Happy Summer 2014!

Two years ago, I decided to do something new and risky.

After a long career as an American network news producer, I launched a media start-up – China Personified LLC with a website and a video production unit focusing on Chinese people and culture. Why?

I’d explained my vision of investing my time and resources in the next generation of bilingual millennials who understand China and America first-hand, up close and personal.

I’d also shared my personal story of when and why I came to America, and how I want to give back to the roots of my culture and the land of my dream.

Over the past 2 years, I’ve seen more and more young people from China coming to America, and Chinese-speaking Americans heading to China.

They envision a future or an adventure in a different world, and they are willing to take a leap. I share their vision.

They are learning and growing by venturing out of their comfort zone, by speaking a language and living in a culture completely different from their own. I applaud their courage.

They are sharing stories of struggle and success – to lift as they climb. Their incredible journeys of hopes and dreams inspire all of us every day.

On this day, I salute every member who’s shared a story or joined our network.

Our basic members are big dreamers and aspiring leaders: bilingual students and young professionals from top universities in America and China.

In the months ahead, I hope to build a tighter network community connecting basic members not only with one another on-line and in person, but also with new premium members who are recognized leaders in their fields – arts, business, education, entrepreneurship, media and journalism.

Find friends for life at CP!

It has been exactly a year since I joined CP. I was initially drawn to CP because of my interests in social media, blogging, and Chinese culture, but later on, I realized that CP is even greater than all of those things — throughout the past year with CP, I met a lot of great people, some of whom have become invaluable friends that I will keep in touch with my entire life! – Xiao Fu
  CP, ideal platform for mentorships

To be honest, I cannot clearly remember how I came to know CP at the very beginning. I was doing translation work and blogging for CP when I was in school. Though my contribution was limited, I truly regard it as an ideal platform for sharing personal stories, meeting new friends, and getting helpful mentorship. Now as a young professional with an international background, I want to contribute more to CP Family and make more and more people like us connect with one another. – Lee Zhang
Tell your story to your CP family!

CP is a unique platform for members to connect with other individuals who share a common interest in China. Our stories are entertaining, inspiring, and insightful, and there is much to learn from one another. My vision for CP is that we increase our online presence through reorganization of the website, so that more people can share their China story with our community. At the same time, it’s important to maintain the “family” component that makes our network special. So, I look forward to meeting new and old members at our CP workshop event this summer! – Alexandra Tirado
CP brings “culture” into vivid existence!

I still remember the first time when I learned about China Personified through my high school friend Yifu in early 2013. After reading a few blogs written by people who come from such different backgrounds but all share a similar interest in Chinese and American cultures, I was attracted by this platform of personal expression. Even though I’m only one of the many Chinese students studying in the United States, I know that I do have personal stories to tell — stories about my language, my identity, and the connection and conflict between different cultures. Through CP, the word “culture” is no longer an abstract concept, but a real and vivid existence in our personal life stories. – Fang Guo

CP, a place to share stories!

I joined CP because I wanted to be a part of bringing together China and America through sharing stories. CP is a great place for me to share about the funny times and the difficulties of trying to make an impact in China through comedy, and also a fantastic place to read about the unique challenges and triumphs of others my age in their journeys between the two countries. I also joined to be able to learn more about culture and storytelling from Mable, who has so much amazing personal experience having chased stories all around the world. I hope that CP will become a place where Chinese and Americans can learn about each other on a deeper and more personal level through sharing the experiences we are living through. – Jesse Appell

CP, share our experiences!

I like CP because it gives us a platform to share our experiences with one another and connect with people from all around the world. – Andrea Blinkhorn
  CP, a global family!

What I love most about China Personified is that it not only provides a platform for me to voice my own opinion and experience but also personally connects me to people with similar goals and motivations. As a blogger for one and a half year, I can find CP alum wherever I travel in the world, and this special bond in us has made CP a “global family”. After the website renovation, we can expect more inspiring and touching stories to come! – Sichun Liu
CP captures my life and thoughts!

For me, CP is a great way to capture my life and thoughts as an American in China. I also enjoy the fun, funny, insightful, and often deeply moving stories of other writers. It’s a network full of interesting people with a broad variety of connections to China. I hope CP continues to add color to international and Chinese understandings of China. – Daniel Tedesco

Share your voice in CP!

I joined CP because I love sharing cross-cultural experiences with Chinese and American audience alike, and because I stand by the idea that young people like me should share their own voice. – Yifu Dong

CP, an enlivening experience!

I joined China Personified to hear the inspiring stories shared by those who have passion for Chinese culture. From supporting each other’s dreams to discussing international issues, interacting with CP members is an encouraging and enlivening experience. – Selina Wang

CP, a true global community!

Has it been two years already? I remember CP from the first days – filming interviews and shots along the blooming Harvard campus – to its classy launch in NYC. Now, I’m so proud that it’s a true global community. One graduation, two industries, and many serendipitous CP connections later, I feel that I’ve grown with CP these past two years and can’t wait for what’s next! – Chase Hu
