Ever wonder how to figure out what you love to do in life? What’s your calling? How do you get into TV news?

Looking back, CP Founder Mable realized she was following a list of “4C-s.” What are they? Find out this Sunday Feb. 24.
Hello, I’m Mable.
Today, I want to talk about my career choice, and give you some take-aways.
Many young people often ask me these questions:
1. How did you know what you love to do?
2. How do you know your calling in life?
3. How did you get into TV news?
4. What do you DO exactly?
All great questions ‒ here are my answers:
Looking back at what I did & how ‒ I realized I was following a list, a “4C-s” list: My Core, Calling, Courage, Commitment.
How did you know what you love to do? Follow your core, your center.
I knew what I loved to do when I remembered what impressed me as I watched television ‒ as a child. I was impressed by shows, stories and characters that are larger than life. Deep in my core and center, I felt alive, moved, informed and inspired by powerful storytelling.
How do you know your calling in life? Convert your core interest into your calling.
Over time, my gut reactions to TV stories and characters, developed into a deeper interest in real-life people and their stories. Caring about people and stories led me to choose journalism as my career ‒ my calling.
How did you get into TV news? Curiosity breeds Courage.
I got into TV news after majoring in TV journalism, making lots of friends ‒ who led me to many different job opportunities.
I applied for job after job with a sense of optimism, and a little courage.
Courage actually did not come naturally to me, curiosity did.
My curiosity with a journalist-mindset always pushed me to call deep on my courage ‒ to take risk, move out of my comfort zone to get the story, share the story, or ‒ to experience a new challenge, and rise to the challenge.
What do you DO exactly? Commitment to Excellence.
Finally, unless you are really lucky, there’s only one way to succeed ‒ commitment.
Commitment to your calling, to hard work and excellence.
What I did at different networks for different audiences required learning and re-learning many skills ‒ speaking, interviewing, writing ‒ and connecting with people at all levels.
I love learning, and I encourage you all ‒ to be a lifetime learner.
So ‒ remember the “4C-s” list for your career ‒ Core, Calling, Courage, Commitment.
Until next month ‒ stay tuned!
